Modern Fantasy- Chocolate Fever

The chapter book, Chocolate Fever by Robert Kimmel Smith, describes the adventures of a boy who loves chocolate. The main character, Henry, eats nothing other than chocolate for every meal of the day. One day he broke out with large brown spots all over his body. No one knew what was wrong with Henry so they called it 'Chocolate Fever'. Henry couldn't handle all the publicity or curiosity so he ran away and encountered many wild adventures. The moral of the story is told in the end: Although life is grand, and pleasure is everywhere, we can't have everything we want every time we want it. I enjoyed this book because of the many hidden lessons found throughout the story. Children can easily relate to the love of candy. I would recommend this book for pleasure reading because it's an engaging easy read with problems, solutions, and valuable lessons.
